10 Things to Love on Tuesday

1. Philosophy Purity Made Simple

I think most women are on a quest for perfect facial cleanser, that easily removes makeup while leaving your skin feeling clean without over drying. Ladies, this is the real deal. The Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser is a pH-balanced formula that rapidly dissolves dirt and makeup while deep cleaning pores. The bestselling cleanser contains infusions of sage, chamomile, and carrot.

-Sodium Lauroamphoacetate: Acts as a mild surfactant that gently cleanses the skin without irritation or residue.
-Meadowfoam Seed Oil: Lightly hydrates the skin leaving the skin comfortable, not pulled or tight.
-Sodium Trideceth Sulfate: Pulls dirt, debris, and makeup from the skin and dissolves them.
-Twelve-Essential Oil Blend (Including Rosewood, Sandalwood, Sage): Helps soften, soothe, and rejuvenate the skin.

I use this twice daily with my Clarisonic Mia.

2. Living Social

Since I’ve moved to a new city, Living Social helps me try new things on a budget. I just ordered this unlimited monthly yoga pass to Amrita Yoga & Wellness Studio in Philadelphia.

One day, maybe I’ll be good enough to do this! If only I could drag my boyfriend to class..

3. Mint.com

To be quite honest, I’m not the best at managing my own money. I have a small amount of credit card debt and would loveee to pay it off by the end of the year. Since I usually respond best when I see things in print, Mint.com is helping me get control of my finances.

This (free!) and easy to use website lets you set up budgets for anything you could think of. It links to your bank account, credit card, investment portfolios, whatever! Mint automatically puts you transactions into categories. The most important thing I’ve learned is to set a budget and stick to it.

4. The Undressed Skeleton

Lately I’ve been trying to clean up my eating habits. When I cook at home, I tend to make nutritious meals, but I run into problems by eating out a few times per week. Taryn McNitt is such an inspiration. Her amazing blog, The Undressed Skeleton, has tons of tips for clean eating!

Taryn also has great baking ideas. If you’re going to eat baked goods, make sure you make them at home. They’re so much healthier than store bought products! Here are a few of my favorite recipes:

Dark Chocolate Whiskey Cupcakes

Macaroni & Cheese

Roasted Avocado Potato Salad and Sesame String Beans

5. The Sexy Leg Workout

My thighs are the one part of my body that I’m not thrilled with. I’m trying to get my leg strength up with a mix of cardio, yoga, and this leg workout:

Believe me, your legs will be so sore after the first time you do this! Tribe Sports also has other great workouts.

6. Fall Recipes

One of the reasons why I love fall so much is because of the food! Fall produce is the best! Here are some of my favorite fall recipes:

Pasta with Pumpkin and Sausage

I know this seems like a strange combination, but trust me it’s amazing! This definitely makes enough for 6-8, especially if you serve it with the salad below.

Spinach Salad with Apple and Red Onion

I also like adding in some walnuts and dried cranberries!

Apple Dumplings

Sooooo good.

7. Sam Edelman

In case you haven’t heard of this shoe-cult classic, Sam Edelman makes designs to die for. Below are my current purchases

 Sam Edelman Penny Boots $150

Sam Edelman Keegan Trench $142

8. Japonesque Clear Skin Tool

Threadflip Review

Remember that shirt you bought two years ago? You know which one I mean. The one that you were totally in love with, but you still have yet to cut the tags off of…

If you’re a shopaholic like me, here’s a website you’ve been waiting for. Welcome to ThreadFlip!

Threadflip is wonderful website that is “pioneering a new social shopping experience by offering women a simple way to convert their closets into a dynamic boutique-like experience, connecting buyers with sellers, and capturing the collaborative energy of shopping with friends.” I promise, it’s as great as it sounds!

I’ve been on Threadflip for about a month an a half now, and honestly couldn’t be happier. It’s so simple to use, and there’s even a mobile app! Here’s my simple guide to making a few bucks on Threadlip:

How to Sell:

  1. Thoroughly raid your closet. Take out anything that you haven’t worn in a year. If you think it’s worth at least $10 (the minimum selling price on Threadflip), set it aside. If it’s not worth selling, start a bag to donate to Goodwill or your local homeless shelter.
  2. Create a Threadflip account. These can be linked to your Facebook- one less password to remember, plus you can check out what your friends have in their closets!
  3. Get listing! Threadflip will walk you through a step-by-step process when listing your items online. Just snap a few pictures, and upload them online.

Threadflip only ships their items through Priority Mail at the US Postal Service. For me, it’s a little difficult to get to the post office since I work 9-5. A great option is to order some priority boxes online. It’s free to have them delivered at home. When you sell your first item, schedule a pickup right from your front door!

*Helpful hint: You can have the buyer pay for shipping, so you don’t have to dish out extra cash. Simply select buyer pays shipping.

Happy ThreadFlipping! Below are a few closets that I LOVE 🙂

10 Things to Love on Tuesday

1. Jack Rogers Hamptons Classic Navajo Flat

I just ordered these perfect sandals from Zappos, one of my favorite online stores. I can’t wait to wear these with a cute sundress or a pair of coral shorts. I’m preppy, so sue me.

2. J Crew Pave Link Bracelet

This J Crew Gold and Crystal Link Bracelet is way high up on my wishlist. Unfortunately,  I am starting a spending moratorium to try and help my credit card balance. But really, how beautiful is it. I’d love to wear this with my Michael Kors watch and a blazer and bright silk top. If only!

3. The Vera Bradley Sale

ImageDo you need to stock up on some new duffel bags or a weekender tote? Now is the time to do it! Vera Bradley has items marked down 50% on their website. Shipping is free for orders over $100, and they even throw in a free beach towel! I might be guilty in over-ordering…

4. Vegan Banana Coconut Granola Bars

I actually have all the ingredients for these in my pantry, and they sound delicious. The recipe is very simple too! It would be a great idea to make a large batch, freeze them, and take them out when needed. This even sounds like a great post-workout treat!

5. Dogeared Karma Necklace

This is one of my favorite necklaces that I’ve ever owned. It matches everything, and can update any look. I don’t hate the message either 🙂

6. Suits

Everyone’s favorite show returns to USA on Tuesday, July 16th. If you’re not already a fan, now’s your chance to Netflix the past two seasons. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

7. Brazilian Waxes

Don’t call me crazy, but how great are the results of Brazilian waxes?! Yes, we might cry a little during the process, but absolutely nothing compares to weeks of not shaving. Not only do you not have worry about unsightly razor burn at the beach, but hair actually grow in thinner and more fine. I’m completely okay with the trade-off!

That being said, not all salons are created equal. Before you go, make sure you’ve checked up on their Yelp review. If there are any comments about the place being unsanitary… find somewhere else!

In order to keep ingrown hair-free, I rely on two products: Bliss Ingrown Eliminating Pads and Tend Skin. They’re true lifesavers, and I’ve never gotten an ingrown hair when I’ve used these.

8. Robin Thicke

Say what you want about the undertones of “Blurred Lines,” but it’s quickly becoming my favorite summer jam. My roommate and I may have committed to watching in on repeat 8 times just to see Robin Thicke in action. I’m not even sorry about it.

9. Avocados

This fruit superfood should be in everything you eat this summer. Not only is it power packed with fiber, potassium, vitamin E, B-vitamins, and folic acid, but it also tastes amazing! Here’s my favorite recipe at the moment, Chicken and Avocado Enchiladas:

Chicken and Avocado Enchiladas in Creamy Avocado Sauce 500 1219

I substitute fat free sour cream and fat free cheese to make it a little healthier.

10. Getting in shape!

Check out my next post for my July Fitness Challenge! If I can do it, so can you.

The 7 Don’ts of Drinking: As Learned from Experience

There is a terrible curse that hits you the second you receive your undergraduate diploma. This curse, which has been confirmed by every single one of my alumni friends, will change your views of drinking forever– but let’s be honest, that’s probably a good thing.

The first time your post-grad hangover hits, you will be clutching the sides of the toilet, yearning for your days as a perky 19 year old who would drink until 4am, and wake up with nothing that a grande iced coffee couldn’t fix. Those days are forever gone.

Let’s not be dramatic. I’m not saying you can’t drink after college. I’m just saying it’s necessary to tone it down a little. After all, you’re a semi-adult now!

The Don’ts

1. Nothing free is good, especially free shots. Free shots with the bartender is the worst combination.

This was my friends and I before the worlds most pointless lecture… Now it’s sort of amusing.  5 shots will do that to ya!

2. Never drink a 40.

You think it’ll be fine, but it never, ever is.

3. Don’t engage with technology.

yeaaaaaaaap. makes for awkward times.

4. Don’t forget to eat before you go out.

Don’t be the slightest bit embarrassed if you turn into this girl, shoving food down while trying to get out the door. We’ve all been there. Anyone who hasn’t is lying.

5. Don’t forget to drunk eat.

Not only will drunk eating seem like the best idea in the world after a night out, but it will most likely help ease the pain of your hangover the morning after. If you are taking a cab home, make sure that the driver will hit up a drive thru at 3am. Buy him a burger, he’ll probs thank you.

6. Don’t ever leave alcohol out before you go to bed.

The following morning is going to be rough enough, you don’t need to remind yourself why.

7. Don’t combine alcohol with different alcohol or with food.

By the next morning, your aim is to not wake up thinking:
